Gerard Sheehan, Managing Director

Gerry is a geologist and geophysicist with over 28 years of experience in the international oil industry. Gerry began his career with British National Oil Corporation which later became Britoil plc. From 1982 to1987 he worked as a seismic interpreter on Britoil's assets initially in the UK northern North Sea and later on the Southern Gas basin acreage, offshore Holland, the Danish sector and the Porcupine Basin, offshore Ireland. He was then transferred to Britoil's Global Basin Evaluation Group and worked on the evaluation of various basins in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. In 1986 he was seconded to Houston as a technical auditor of Britoil's US assets.

In 1987 Gerry joined Tullow Oil plc as a founding member of the technical division. In his 19 years with Tullow Oil, he held senior positions as Chief Geophysicist, Area Manager West Africa, and International Exploration Manager and latterly as New Ventures Manager. In this role he as closely involved in the technical aspects of Tullow Oil's acquisition of Energy Africa and on Tullow's significant developments on the Ivory Coast-Ghana margin.

In late 2006 Gerry co-founded Blackstairs Energy plc.

Gerry holds a primary degree in Geology and a Master of Science in Applied Geophysics, both from the National University of Ireland. He is a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
